Hat Walk day

We finished Movin' March with a Hat Walk parade.
WOW what a lot of creative hats we had to share. It was awesome to see the effort the children had put into making their hats.
Here are our class hats

Scooter Training

Today Constable Blue and Sherie came and taught us how to ride our scooter safely. It was lots of fun as we practised gliding, doing emergency stops and standing correctly by our scooters with both feet on the same side.

Making Sherbet

For our writing today Rooms 3 and 4  decided to make sherbet and then write about it.
We added ingredients together to make a mixture but there was NO reaction... until we put some of the powder in our mouth and it mixed with our saliva ... then it EXPLODED on our tongues!

Here is the recipe for making sherbet so you can make it at home

During Movin' March we all helped decorate a mural in the library to show things that we saw and heard as we walked to school.

After we had decorated sticks in our Whanau groups, Room 6 children helped Mrs Morgan decorate the gate.
We think it looks awesome.

Our first butterfly

Today we were all very excited when we got to school as one of our chrysalis's had hatched into a butterfly. It was very pretty.
We put it on a tree outside so it could fly away.

Whanau groups

On Friday we got into our Whanau Groups and decorated sticks. We are going to use these sticks to decorate our school gate as part of Movin' March.
We used wool, paint, glitter and lots of recycled objects. It was lots of fun.

Our Bug Lab visit

We had a great day at Te Papa on Tuesday. We went as part of our topic study on Mini Beasts. We visited the Bug Lab and looked at each bugs special talents. We also explored Bush City where we completed a scavenger hunt.
It was lots of fun and we were all very tired on the bus on the way home! A special thank you to all our parent helpers. We hope you had fun too.

Movin' March

During the month of March, we are once again encouraging our students to walk to school either from home, the top of the steps or from Martin Grove. This will have multiple benefits – it will develop your childs’ independence, confidence, road and personal safety skills and general health and wellbeing. It will also relieve the congestion of cars down the school drive.

Starting on Monday March 6th, for the next 3 weeks, we are encouraging the children to walk to school. If they do so, they will get a stamp on a passport. Once they have 10 stamps, they go into a Regional Movin’ March draw to win a bike.
