Dog Safety

Today we had Virginia and Julie bring Floyd to school. They taught us how to meet a dog we don't know.

If a dog is on it's own, leave it alone.
If the dog has an owner with it, ask the owner if you can pat their dog.
If they say yes, hold out your hand and let the dog sniff you and get to know you.
Then you are able to stroke the dog on their chest.

We practised this with Floyd.

  1. Great way to get the children used to handling dogs. It is really important these days for them to know what to do without being frightened. Carol Roberts (Hana's Nana)

  2. Should be an essential part of the curriculum!
